Whew!! What a great first day with brass! Just a few tips for this week!
- Do not completely remove the valves when oiling cornets/trumpets/euphonium/baritone. If you don't get them back in properly - your instrument won't play. Watch the video provided for oiling... it's for a trumpet but also will work for the baritone and euphonium.
- Buzz in your mouthpiece, watching your embouchure (mouth placement) for a couple minutes before practicing in your book. Tighten and loosen your buzz to get high/low sounds. (video below)
- Practice Page 4 # 1-5 - when playing the quarter notes - remember to use your tongue to start each note.
